William Ehwarimie, PhD
William Ehwarieme, PhD, is currently Professor of Political Science at Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria. He has held full-time teaching and research appointments at universities in Nigeria, including Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, where he was Founding Head of the Department of Political Science and the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Besides, he held Sabbatical appointments at the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, and Federal University, Lokoja. Professor Ehwarieme obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1982 and 1988, respectively, before earning his PhD in Political Science from the University of Ibadan in 2000. He has served as External Examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in several universities, and on the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation teams. In 2011, he was Honourable Mention Winner of the Lawrence Reddick Dunbar Scholarship Award for the Best Article on Africa published in the Journal of Third World Studies (now the Journal of Global South Studies for his article: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea: The Displacement of Ethnicity by Corruption in Nigeria's Electoral Politics. Professor Ehwarieme is a member of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA), Life member, Association of Global South Studies, - formerly, Association of Third World Studies- USA, and the African Studies and Research Forum (ASRF), USA in which he served as Vice President, 2012-2014. Professor William Ehwarieme is a Fellow of the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society.
